Welcome To London!
Ello Guvnor, welcome to the long awaited, hacking simulator! Set in one of the greatest cities in the world! WELCOME TO LONDON!!!!
Watch Dogs Legion is set in a modern futurized version of London, where everything is turned upside down. You will start of playing as a British Spy named Dalton, who has been sent to investigate a threat to commit a terrorist attack at Parliament. You will find out that the culprits are trying to frame the famous anarchist group of hackers called DeadSec. Daltons investigation proves to be useful when he finds explosives ready to detonate and blow-up Parliament, but he also finds out this is not the only places that has bombs planted at. While Dalton races against the clock to stop the mayhem from happening with the help of Bagley the artificial intelligent computer helper and Sabine, he can stop the bombing but stopping the bomb at Parliament, causes the other bombs to still detonate and causes one of the biggest terrorist attacks to date. Dalton is confronted by the big bad villain responsible for these attacks and deaths of many… Zero Day. You find out that Dalton was led into a trap to help the framing of DeadSec and is sadly gunned down, as are all the DeadSec crew who get abused at the headquarters. Albion has taken over as a private military and the police have lost all power can you help restore order?
Who’s The Boss?
There are five main villains in Watch Dogs Legion, first the main bad guy you meet when you are playing as Dalton, Zero Day and then you have their associates including Kelley who oversees Kelley Clan Gang, Cass who runs the private military Albion, Skyler Larsen who created Bagley and a secret villain. You must complete each story of all five villains to find out who is Zero Day… Good Luck.
They May Take Our Lives, But They Will Never Take Our Freedom!
Now Ubisoft did something much more different from their previous games. Everyone is playable, and I mean everyone. You can walk straight up to anyone of the streets even bad guys such as Albion, then recruit them for the cause, sometimes not that simple sadly, if they cannot be recruited you can still save them in your team so when you want to find them again you can. Many people hate DeadSec, thinking they are behind the terrorist attack so you will have to build up a reputation to recruit better people for the cause. Completing tasks to help people in order to recruit them properly, such as rescue missions or gaining something they need once you succeed in your mission, you can then use them as an operative. Each character is unique they have their own special skills and equipment from drone experts to ex Albion guards even copper (The police) personally one of my favorites was a man named Harry, who could use his Albion uniform to get into guarded locations and slip by unnoticed sometimes.
Now you will grow to love some of these operatives but sadly if you have allowed the option Permadeath then you will sadly meet the emotion of losing a beloved character, I lost personally four of my operatives including two of my favorites. If you do not have permadeath option enabled, then you will only have your operatives sent to hospital and will need to wait for them to be healed to play again. Recommend you recruit a medic, so they speed up the process. If your operatives are apprehended then you will have your operatives put in jail for an amount of time, recruiting a judge or someone who can lower the times they are inside will help.
Yo! What Endz You From Blud?
You have many boroughs in London although not every borough is included on the map but most of them are, from Lambeth to City of London even Islington/Hackney you must bring an uprising to break the power and free the people. You must complete borough activities such as Neutralizing a V.I.P, photographing evidence, sabotaging and digital defacing, disrupting propaganda from Albion, hacking into the CtOS Hub, rescuing a freedom fighter and collecting evidence. Each borough has three from this list once you complete the three missions you will be contacted to do a mission to help break Albion’s power of the borough and the people. Completing the mission will cause the borough to be defiant and increases the support of DeadSec, you will also be given a new operative that is a pro in certain sections, if you free the City of London for example you will be given a Spy who comes with a silenced pistol and a spy watch that jams all weapons in proximity, you will also receive a banging spy car that shoots missiles and can cloak. Who will you recruit?
This… Is A Shotgun Sol. That Is A ******* Anti-Aircraft Gun Vincent!
Now to be a true Watch Dog game you must be able to use your smartphone to hack everything and anything, and yes, you can do all and more now. Hacking a huge factor of this game, you will hack drones, switches, doors even weapons that can fire back at the enemy, this game allows you take control of any vehicle, you can hack them to crash into oncoming traffic or even stop a pursue by causing the police to drive in a different direction or block the way. I won’t lie to you, will have a cooldown stage on something, and you can upgrade your hacks, but the world is your hacking tool or computer, and you can do with it what you will. Hack into cameras around the buildings and inside the structure to find and do puzzles to hack into computer systems and hubs and even take out the enemy or jam their weapons and set of the disruptions to scare and lure them into traps. Even use Spiderbots too.
So many ways to do what you need to accomplish your mission.
Now what happens if you are confronted by an Albion guard, they have two choices: they can shoot you or attack you in hand-to-hand combat; you can fight and dodge and counter attacks to deal hard damage and minding blowing attacks. If you are sadly confronted by a guard with a gun and they fire upon you, then shoot back if you have a gun and if you do not and only have a non-lethal pistol, then chose to shoot back or fall back to safety. You can upgrade your weapons and gain other non-lethal ones. This game truly has a way of making you panic, and sometimes you may have no choices but to run. This game has very lethal drones which can shoot automatic weapons and missiles and sometimes you cannot take them down permanently, but you can disable them for a small amount of time just enough to escape with your life. Try to find an operative with a unique weapon such as a P9 or an SMG they will help a lot more than a construction worker with a wrench and a taser. You do not have to kill in this game to proceed you can do silent attacks that will subdue the enemy but can sometimes lead to a problem in the future.
Bond. James Bond.
You saw I mentioned a problem in the future, right? Oh well yeah, just because you knocked out someone and they are grateful to be alive they will still do a revenge attack back. If you have upset a gang member or hurt someone and they saw, you then they will give the location of one of your operatives to someone who will kidnap them, and it is down to you to hack the person you annoyed and find out where they are keeping your operative before it is too late. Personally, these missions were tedious and would seriously wind me up. I swear I did so many rescues it was getting on my nerves, every second it would pop up with Bagley telling me someone was thrown into a white van and it is down to me to rescue them… ALL THE TIME!
I Thought You Said He Was A Getaway Driver?!
Need to get away from the cops or those irritating overpowered drones, jump in ANY vehicle seriously almost every vehicle is driving on its own. A wide range of awesome cars to help you get from A to B and if you would rather take the London Underground you can too, one thing about London is the public transport is massive, from trains and the tubes to the London buses, sadly you can drive a bus but not take a nice bus ride around the beloved city. You will unlock more train stations as you explore the maps, Thank god for the LONDON UNDERGROUND.
So Take Me Back To London.
Now being a true Londoner living in the city myself I was astounded with how much the game matched the real-life London, other than a few propaganda covering monuments and a few locations being blocked off from exploring like Kings Cross Station but other than that I was impressed, I took some photos from the real London that I took myself and added them next the game versions and you can see how realistic they tried to make it.
To me this is the first game in a while that was the closest realism to the real-life city itself.
Now a lot of the world has this idea in their head that we all sound like we are from the Victorian Times, but for once a game set in London has the actual accent of some Londoners and even includes slang in it. Although there were only a few actors for the voices of the people, I still think they were bang on with how we talk. From how to swear and insult to how we greet and speak I was impressed, especially being called a “Pillock” which is did not know anyone would know what that would mean haha. Then we have the sounds. The music in this game hit hard when I encountered the grime music channel, from listening to Stormzy and J Hus to even Lady Leshurr. Then you have certain radio stations for people who like classical, pop etc. but I personally feel like they could have included more songs or a create your own playlist like they did in Watch Dogs 2.
This Time Next Year We’ll Be Millionaires.
There are sooooo many collectibles in the City of London, you can find Relics, audio and text messages scattered around the map also tech points which you can use to upgrade your skills and hacks to help you be a pro hacker and progress. Money is under as Siphon Crypto and can be found everywhere, you can hack small devices that have crypto currency, can open safes, hack ATMS and finding operatives that can get currency easier. The masks you find scattered around the world can be used on any operative you recruit and there are a lot to find, you can also customize what your operative wears from a vast range of clothing stores to buy from and I mean seriously so many choices. Go around London pasting up DeadSec propaganda and show your power and bravery to defeat Albion.
What Happens At Fight Club. Stays At Fight Club.
There are tons and tons of side quests and things to do in this game, you can go to a fight club and fight pro fighters that you can beat and recruit afterwards, play Keepie Uppies across the map which I was not a fan of, very aggravating. If you want to explore the map on top of a parcel drone you can, I explored a lot of London myself and took in the views. Even go on top of the Millennial Wheel (London Eye) and take in the beautiful city and all its glories. Have a drink at any pub and have a game of darts on your own or with a rival.
Me And My Brother, We’re Gonna Rule London!
Are you an achievement hunter? Then I have good news for you, Watch Dogs Legion, comes with a whopping 1000 Gamer score and 39 achievements to collect. Plus, the game has future Downloadable content coming and an online mode which is coming early 2021, so I am truly looking forward to showing my American friends around my magnificent city! I really loved this game and was absolutely honoured to review it, the fact is Ubisoft put so much effort into this game, the way it looked, the design or it, the voice acting I could go on and on although it had some slight bit and pieces; I didn’t enjoy, but it was a bang-up job if I say so myself amazing job Ubisoft and if you would like to buy this game, you can find it on Xbox, PlayStation, Stadia and PC . So, get out there, spread the message and help defeat Zero Day and their associates. Good Luck and Welcome to the London.
