Stadia and Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud-based gaming service is available on iOS devices. Despite Apple not allowing direct applications for these services to be found on the App Store. However, there is a workaround to gain access on iPhones & iPads. In order to obtain these services, as is also expected for XCloud in 2021, the user must simply add a specific webpage onto their device’s home screen.
Both Google & Nvidia have provided guides on how to successfully carry out these tasks. The links to the announcements/ tutorials will be sourced at the bottom of the article. As it is known that Apple hasn’t taken to cloud-based gaming as well as other devices, Samsung for example. Many members of the gaming community are owners of Apple devices. Once the restrictions for direct apps were announced, it wasn’t received well.
Even though Apple pulled the plug for these apps, they have always stated that links to webpages are allowed, and that is what Stadia & GeForce Now are running through.
How Does Stadia & Geforce Now Perform on iOS Devices?
Although these links are brilliant in regards to accessibility to gamers, it does have its slight flaws. Stadia’s slight niggle is buffed out once the device’s software/browser is updated to its latest version. Beforehand, playing was impossible and a message would appear, even though it didn’t specify the exact steps to take. It did mention that the browser needed updating and included a find out more link, which still didn’t help. After a simple google search, the solution was found and the problem was gone.
In regards to GeForce Now, there’s a bigger issue. Unlike Stadia, Nvidia’s service on iOS devices won’t allow games that require a keyboard and mouse to be played. Despite this heartache, games that use a Bluetooth controller works solid.
Despite the slight niggles, both services run smoothly and will make players pleased to have the opportunity to use the services. Xbox’s own cloud-based service shall follow the same route in 2021.
