Jamie can be found writing about indie games and chatting to developers about their upcoming titles. He'd love to buy all the retro consoles he had growing up; Amiga, SNES, N64, PS1, Dreamcast; but his wife would kill him, plus she needs the money to fill the house with more plants - you can never have enough plants apparently. Instead he games on his PS4 and uses his laptop as a sort of retro time machine, playing ports of classics, or the latest indie homage to JRPGs, CRPGs, or point and click adventure games. Also loves sushi, star wars, and sci-fi/fantasy books.

Intergalactic Wizard Force

I’m treading carefully as I write this review of Intergalactic Wizard Force. I’ve seen first hand what can happen when someone makes too big a deal about the comedy value of something. It raises the expectations too high, and then…

Batbarian: Testament of the Primordials

Metroidvania is a crowded genre.  Ori and the Blind Forest, and it’s sequel, as well as Hollow Knight and Dead Cells are recent examples that have elevated the combination of non-linear exploration, leveling up, and artistic presentation.  It speaks volumes…

Dwerve: First Impressions

“The first slavering beast was eviscerated in seconds as the bladed turret whirred to life. Beyond the gore that now covered the passage walls, Dwerve could see more movement as a huge pack of baleful hounds came thundering towards him.…

Chained Echoes: Hands On with the Demo

How was I supposed to know there was a 16-bit mechsuit-shaped whole in my heart? Well now I do, thanks to the thoroughly enjoyable Chained Echoes demo – available at the time of writing on Steam. Chained Echoes, from solo…
